Teaching Experience and Methodology

Why Teaching Experience Matters
Teacher-student websites like Preply, italki, Tutoroo, etc have flooded the market with “teachers” from all over the world. Yes, they are very cheap: but what actual teaching experience do they have? Often they do not even have a TEFL or CELTA teaching certificate, or even a university degree. Usually they are doing this on the side for a little money. “At least I speak the language, somewhat.” As the old saying goes, ‘you get what you pay for.’ And if you’re paying somebody you found on Preply 110 Kč/hr to improve your English, they could actually be teaching you their own grammatical and vocabulary mistakes. Not good. Preply or similar sites don’t require nor check a teacher’s credentials when they register. They’re just happy to keep adding more and more “teachers”: “I breathe, and I speak a little English: find me on Preply today!”
Don’t you deserve better? Of course you do. You deserve a native English teacher with real depth of knowledge of English grammar, extensive vocabulary, and a proven teaching methodology. A teacher with almost 20 years’ experience teaching hundreds of students. That is what I’m offering you. And this is how you will make real progress, and quickly.
The Communicative Language Teaching Method
I use the Communicative approach to teaching. This proven method aims to develop learners’ ability to communicate effectively and appropriately in real-life situations, not to just know about the language. Instead of just memorizing grammar rules or vocabulary, learners practice using the language to express meaning, exchange ideas, and solve real-world tasks.
Language as a tool: Language is viewed primarily as a tool for communication, not just a system of rules. Accuracy (correct grammar) is important, but fluency (being able to speak and understand smoothly) is equally valued.
Authentic use: Activities often involve real-life scenarios, role-plays, discussions, problem-solving, and simulations so students practice the language in meaningful contexts in everyday situations outside the classroom.
Learner-centered: The teacher is more of a facilitator or guide rather than the sole authority. Students actively engage with each other in pair work or group work.
Integration of skills: Listening, speaking, reading, and writing are taught together, often within the same activity, to reflect real communication.
Tolerance of errors: finally, mistakes are seen as a natural part of the learning process, since the priority is to get meaning across.
All things considered, studying with a TESOL certified teacher who has taught hundreds of students over 18 years, combined with a proven teaching methodology which gets results is the best way to improve your English proficiency.
